Opportunities and Challenges in Chinese Groundwater Science

A major product from the “challenges and opportunities” themed groundwater forums since 2005 is the “white paper” report written by the Committee on Chinese Groundwater Science (CCGS) led by Chunmiao Zheng and Li Wan. The CCGS Committee was sponsored by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) and China Geological Survey (CGS). The report was published in 2009 in book form by Science Press of China, with foreword by Dr. Chen Yiyu, Director of NSFC and Dr. Wan Min, Director of CGS. The book reviews the current state of Chinese groundwater science, discusses the frontier problems in international groundwater research, and includes a comprehensive set of substantive recommendations ranging from immediate action items to long-term visions.
