Rhode Island has a Major Stake in Control of Greenhouse Gases
Description:
“As a coastal state, Rhode Island has more reason to be concerned with
global climate change than most. If the sea level continues to rise by
one foot per century – the rate actually recorded at Newport – all of
Rhode Island’s low-lying coastal areas (76 percent of the shoreline)
could be adversely affected. Many experts believe the chances of a major
hurricane reaching New England are also likely to be increased.”
