Achievement/Results

One additional IGERT trainee will be receiving her Ph.D in Materials Science and Engineering on May 8th 2011. This makes a total of 13 Ph.Ds we have produced with support with this grant. All of these graduates are African American.

Address Goals

Our primary goal of this IGERT grant was to increase the number of African American Ph.Ds in Materials Science and Engineering. We have met this goal. This also addresses the interest of the NSF in increasing the number of minorities holding the doctorate degree in STEM fields.
