Figure 1. The right panel shows a typical display in used in the visual search task, containing 9 multi-featured objects. The task required search for three objects belonging to the same category set, for example, three objects which share the same color but differ on shape. The left panel shows how the display appeared to the observer. The contents of each location were only visible when the eye was looking at the location.
