Achievement/Results

The Biocentric Robotics IGERT has become a key player in STEM outreach in Utah. IGERT personnel have been instrumental in bringing FIRST robotics competitions to Utah at the elementary through high school level. IGERT faculty and Trainees played pivotal roles as volunteers and members of the organizing committees of these events. Over 50 elementary school teams from Utah and 31 high school teams from the four state region (Utah, Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming) were able to participate in these science and technology activities as a result of the IGERT leadership and participation.

Address Goals

This activity provides an engaging, high-quality STEM activity for hundreds of school children in the mountain west region. Such activity can have a lasting impact on decisions for future careers and helps build a scientifically-literate workforce for American competitiveness.
