BDSS-IGERT hosts Global Event Data Hackathon

Over 20 Penn State University researchers including the IGERT Trainees and faculty, students, and research staff from political science, geography, information sciences, and research computing engaged in BDSS-IGERT’s first hackathon. The hackathon was based on a new data set of 180 million political events generated by Kalev Leetaru of the University of Illinois. The event took place all day Sunday September 16 and results were presented the next day to a packed house at the BDSS IGERT Seminar Series.
