The “Study of Sharing Networks to Assess the Vulnerability of Communities to Oil and Gas Development in Arctic Alaska” project was awarded the Secretary of Interior’s Partnerships in Conservation Award, for its research efforts with local communities to study subsistence systems of Alaska Natives
Address Goals
Students of the RAP were directly involved in the research, working with local residents to conduct interviews. The project modeled innovative approaches for working with indigenous people in research, and through the collaboration, produced one of the riches social-economic datasets available for rural alaska.
