MSU IGERT Trainee Wins Poster Award for Novel Work on Synthetic Microbial Communities
Hans Bernstein (NSF IGERT trainee from Montana State University), wins one of the poster awards at the International Symposium for Microbial Ecology in Copenhagen, Denmark (August 2012). The research results performed in conjunction with IGERT faculty R. Carlson demonstrate the importance of metabolic interaction between microbial community members and creating emergent properties, which increase overall community productivity.
