Annual RPI IGERT student retreat
The annual RPI IGERT student retreat was held on July 28, 2009. A student committee (David Brigada and Chris Donais) surveyed a retreat date, invited speakers, collected abstracts and posters, arranged a schedule, and ordered lunch under the supervision of IGERT PI G.-C. Wang. The speaker was Dr. Robinson Pino from the Air Force Research Lab. Dr. Pino was our first PhD student graduated from the IGERT program in 2005. He worked for IBM before joining the Air Force Research Lab in 2009. He is the recipient of the most promising engineer/scientist award in the 2009 HENAAC (Hispanic Engineer National Achievement Award Conference). He gave a seminar about how to prepare for working in industry and at national labs. Rensselaer administrators including the Dean for Graduate Recruiting, summer REU students and their advisors as well as students from another RPI IGERT in fuel cells were invited to join the trainees for the poster viewing, seminar and lunch.
