Structural conservation in the HIV-1 V3 loop
Trainees from the lab of COB faculty T. Cardozo have performed research pertaining to structural conservation in the HIV-1 V3 loop, leading to the presentation of this novel data/result at the high-impact international conference AIDS Vaccine 2009 (Paris). Trainees also performed a data synthesis from several different sources, combined with analysis within the framework of his particular field of study resulted in a first author publication for one of his trainees. Finally, three structural determinants of PERK inhibition as well as 14 selective PERK inhibitors have been identified through the interdisciplinary teamwork. These structural-activity relationships may aid in the structure-based PERK inhibitor design.
