Deciphering the network of neural connections
Christopher Quinn, working closely with his advisor and IGERT co-PI Todd Coleman, developed a method for inferring causal relationships from neural spike-train recordings. This will make it possible to decipher the network of neural connections and their operation from electrical recordings, a fundamental new capability that should accelerate scientific advances in neuroscience.
