Trainee organizes international conference
Trainee Sanjay Pinto organized a conference with two Australian colleagues, which was jointly hosted by Harvard University and the University of Melbourne, with plenary sessions videoconferenced between the two sites. With support from IGERT and other University sources, Pinto drew a distinguished panel of speakers to campus with an ambitious agenda: Taking as its point of departure the current global financial and economic crisis, the conference aimed to deepen our understanding of existing capitalism and to build frameworks for understanding what form reinvented systems of market governance might usefully take. The group plans to compile a selection of papers into an edited collection and hopes that this workshop will lay the groundwork for an ongoing transnational dialogue and collaboration around issues of contemporary market governance.
