Trainees take leadership course
All of the IGERT trainees took a two-semester Leadership Development course. The course includes a leadership retreat and a series of meetings and workshops to develop professional skills for doctoral students from a variety of disciplines. In the course, students explore styles of leadership, enhance communication and presentation skills, learn time management skills, build scholarly networks, participate in ethics discussions, and work on multidisciplinary team projects. In addition, there is a faculty panel that discusses issues on research ethics and research guidelines and policies.
