Forming collaborations with Chinese colleagues
Our trainees are making tremendous progress in forming research collaborations with Chinese colleagues. Mary Saunders is collaborating with Prof. Wang Lihua, a geneticist and buckwheat breeder based at the Yunnan Academy of Agricultural Sciences in Kunming to examine buckwheat genetic diversity across a Yunnan landscape. Jocelyn Behm is exploring the effect of habitat on frog diets with Prof. Yang Xiaodong at the Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanic Garden. Robbie Hart is working with Dr. Xu Jianchu at ICRAF to explore rhododendron phenology in Yunnan and Nepal. Heidi Bissell is collaborating with Profs. Professor Shi Peng and Doug Yu at the Kunming Institute of Zoology and Prof. Xiao Wen at Dali College on several projects related to primate nutrition, parasitology, behavior, and gut microbe metagenomics in Yunnan. Michelle Haynes is working with Prof. Yang Yongping at the Kunming Institute of Botany to compare NW Yunnan, W Sichuan, and E Tibetan traditional rangeland management.
