Homeostatic mechanisms for neuronal stability

Trainee Eugene Kim is interested in the homeostatic mechanisms by which neuronal stability is maintained. His background was in computational neuroscience. At Brandeis he has learned genetics, molecular biology, and electrophysiology. He is now doing biophysical recordings from small Drosophila neurons to study ion channel function in identified neurons. This represents a technical tour de force, and makes possible a variety of important experiments that combine genetics, biophysics and computational models.
