Effects of temporary silencing of brain regions

IGERT trainee Caitlin Piette (Katz lab)has been working on a project that combines behavior and electrophysiology with complex analyses of coherent network properties. Specifically, she has demonstrated that, as predicted by a great deal of modeling work, the temporary silencing of one brain region changes the way in which connected regions respond to input--changing the character of the coherent responses without changing the FACT of coherent responses.
