Trainees and advisor coauthor paper
Trainees Gina Quiram and Karrie Koch, along with IGERT faculty member Rob Venette, coauthored a review of oak wilt management as a result of their work in the IGERT problem solving practicum. The review (A review of oak wilt management: A summary of treatment options and their efficacy) was recently published in the journal Urban Forestry and Urban Greening (see: http://dx.doi.org/doi:10.1016/j.ufug.2009.11.004). This team brought trainee perspective from plant ecology and entomology and advisor expertise in forest entomology to take a scientific approach to assessing management options. The publication will help disseminate findings that can guide managers in their oak wilt control efforts.
