Depositing diesel exhaust on lung tissue

An interdisciplinary team composed of an IGERT Scholar and two CSU faculty in Departments of Mechanical Engineering and Environmental and Radiological Health Sciences have been working on a project to develop a new apparatus for depositing diesel exhaust on human lung tissue. The main objective of this device is to correlate certain changes in exhaust emissions to changes in inflammation response and other responses we can follow using transcriptomics. This research consists of testing various subsystems for the IGERT Scholar's new device and developing the engineering drawings for the full prototype, which will be fabricated in the next several months.
