Achievement

A chemical engineering IGERT Scholar chose to work with an environmental engineering professor for one of his research rotation experiences. The student had no knowledge of biological processes prior to entering the IGERT program. To start this rotation, this student prepared a very thorough literature review of anaerobic digestion for the treatment of municipal solid waste and for the generation of bioenergy. He then worked with another student in the anaerobic digestion research team to set up laboratory-scale anaerobic digesters testing methane generation from municipal solid waste and manure.
