Trainee receives NSF GRF
In April 2010 IPEM Trainee Kyle Bocinsky received a three-year NSF Graduate Research Fellowship for a project entitled "Eggshell and the Archaeogenetic Record" to support his dissertation research which will combine novel archaeogenetic data sources with agent-based modeling to understand the locational responses of human populations to turkey domestication, and to determine the extent to which reliance on maize for both calories, and as food for turkeys, exacerbated the problems that ultimately led to the 13th-century depopulation of the northern Southwest.
