Implementing programmatic improvements
Students commend ICE IGERT for soliciting and implementing programmatic improvements. To enhance career awareness and professional guidance, IGERT students planned a Career Day event focused on Alternative Careers. To maximize benefit, ICE IGERT invited Chemistry-Biology Interface (NIH) and IGERT in Nanotechnology Innovation students to participate on the Planning Committee. By pooling resources, the team created a campus-wide event that served graduate students from more than 12 degree-granting programs. The event combined professional talks with opportunity for informal interaction with guest speakers, including a sit-down luncheon, a student-driven question and answer panel session, and afternoon networking reception. Six external speakers offered professional insight across a diverse spectrum of career options, including corporate business development, industrial research, consulting services, non-profit management, university administration, and government agency service.
