Achievement

Our second proposal writing class for year-two IGERT students (10) was taught by two of our IGERT faculty, and focused on developing professional skills in proposal writing, oral communication, building scientific rationale, discovery and hypothesis testing. All students completed an individual proposal after several rounds of editing and improvement, and several of the student proposals have formed the basis for Ph.D. projects and or fellowship submissions. During the last academic year, one fellowship application focused on thermophilic viruses was submitted by an IGERT student as a direct result of participation in this course. Several additional fellowship applications will be forthcoming during the next fiscal year.
