Achievement

IGERT trainee Shannon Seneca has continued to operate experimental columns containing natural zeolites, with the goal of supporting the use of these materials in the restoration of groundwater at nuclear facilities. The column tests are noteworthy for their long duration, which will extend to nearly two years; previous studies have lasted days to weeks. Preliminary results have been presented at by Ms. Seneca and Dr. Rabideau at several conferences, at the U.S. Department of Energy, and at three universities in the mid-Atlantic region.
