New electron injection layer materials for OLEDs
IGERT Fellow, Toan Pho, has synthesized new electron injection layer (EIL) materials for organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs). These materials allow for more efficient injection of electrons into OLEDs, ultimately resulting in more energy-efficient devices. This work was in collaboration with graduate students Professor Quyen Nguyen's (IGERT advisor) lab. These results have been submitted for publication in the Journal of the American Chemical Society. He also studied materials to increase the efficiency of hole transport/injection in OLEDs in collaboration with Guanwen Yang, a graduate student in Professor Yang Yang's group, with UCLA IGERT Materials Creation Training Program (MCTP). A patent submission is pending on these materials.
