Achievement

The annual student-organized summer retreat was held on July 16, 2008. A two-student committee was elected among the trainees. The committee surveyed a retreat date, invited speakers, collected abstracts and posters, arranged a schedule of events, and ordered lunch under the supervision of IGERT PI G.-C. Wang. The speaker was Dr. Cynthia Landberg from GE Global Research Center. She is the manager in charge of the digital x-ray division. Two one-hour poster sessions were held. Participants had a chance to view each poster. Rensselaer administrators including Associate Dean for Graduate Recruiting, Bill Siegmann and Associate Dean Sam Wait attended the retreat. Summer REU students and their advisors were also invited to join the trainees for the poster viewing, seminar and lunch.
