Trainee presents at Q-Bio Conference
IGERT Trainee Brian Drawert attended the 2009 Q-Bio Conference in New Mexico. Brian shared his work in modeling the cell polarization process on yeast mating and the development of ultra efficient techniques. Brian is working with another CSE IGERT Fellow, Michael Lawson. They have developed a computational framework for the accurate and efficient simulation of spatially inhomogeneous biochemical systems. The new computational method employs a fractional stepping hybrid strategy, using the Stochastic Simulation Algorithm (SSA) to compute the reaction step and the Finite State Projection (FSP) algorithm to compute the diffusion step of the decoupled Reaction-Diffusion Master Equation (RDME).
