Achievement

Our research groups have taken many different approaches, all aimed at encouraging participation, sharing information and supporting a multidisciplinary learning experience. During the fall quarter, our Systems Biology research focus group and the Theoretical Ecology group at UCSB began meeting together to explore commonalities in approaches and techniques between theoretical ecology and systems biology. The groups have discussed topics such as the integration of evolutionary biology and systems biology, and gene level stochastic processes looking at population level consequences as well as Bayesian networks.
