Trainee honored for research accomplishments

David DeRemer (Economics) was honored on several occasions by Columbia's Department of Economics. DeRemer won the Wueller Research Award for Best Research Proposal by a Third Year Student. He was also the runner-up for the Vickrey Prize for Best Third Year Paper and for Wueller Pre-Dissertation Award for the Best Dissertation Proposal. DeRemer's research considers the role of domestic policy restrictions in international trade agreements and the WTO. He argues that the standard theory of trade agreements takes an overly narrow view of the problems that trade agreements need to solve. Furthermore, he asserts that there is room for innovation in WTO rules on domestic policies.
