Achievement

IGERT students participated in numerous educational activities and research conferences, along with various outreach opportunities. For example, Curtis Larimer co-led a roundtable discussion at a local middle school with 9th grade students. The discussion centered on pollution and what the students can do to affect change in their community. David Sanchez taught a Summer Science Program at ALCOSAN, a regional sewage treatment plant; David was also an invited speaker at Culture and Context in STEM Education conference in San Francisco. David has served as a mentor to an undergraduate student. Almost all IGERT students participated in poster or oral presentations at the Engineering Sustainability 2009 Conference.
