Trainee develops new course at OSU
IGERT student Tracy Kugler (Geosciences) developed a course on using Python scripts to automate geoprocessing tasks in GIS. She taught the course at OSU in fall 2009. This teaching experience contributed to her effective applications for teaching positions. She has been offered a position as visiting Assistant Professor at Middlebury College and will be teaching a similar course there in fall 2010. Kugler also collaborated with IGERT student Forrest Briggs to apply machine-learning approaches to classify urban forms using partial block housing data from the US Census. This work is included in her dissertation scheduled for a defense in October of 2010.
