Internship on stream ecology
IGERT student Torrey Johnson (Mathematics) completed an internship in the stream ecology laboratory of Mary Powers at UC Berkeley, where he gained exposure to and understanding of stream ecology problems and approaches. As a result of this experience, Torrey is now exploring work on modeling insect populations in streams, in particular looking at critical phenomenon like minimal domain size for population persistence. Recently looking at extensions to this idea related to climate change effects, i.e. can a population persist under a shifting range?
