Ms. DeLeo was awarded the 2008 Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award in the Department of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering. Outreach activities include working with two undergraduate researchers, Katie Walsh and James Goetz. Katie, a Chemical Engineering student, conducted research on the rheological effects of compatibilizer concentration of the multifunctional polymers. James, a Polymer Engineering student, conducted research on the crosslinking of starch and polypropylene blends. A poster entitled Reaching sustainable research goals through co-curricular learning: An example in starch based plastics describing this outreach was presented at the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education Conference in Raleigh, NC, in November, 2008.
