IGERT funding helps trainee pursue collaborations
Trainee M.M. reports: "The funding I received through IGERT has enabled me to pursue collaborations with researchers outside of the traditional academic setting. I have been able to conduct research in NGO labs and contribute to the projects these organizations are overseeing. These projects represent a translational, clinical component to the work I am performing in an academic context which has given me further insight into the contribution my research has to broad healthcare issues, both domestic and international. Specifically, I have been able to develop novel biomaterials in my academic lab and test their clinical potential in a NGO lab focused on translating heathcare technologies to developing countries. "
