Trainee S.L. reports: "The IGERT funding has provided tremendous financial support for me to pursue this project. As a chemist working in a cell biology lab, this project has allowed me to gain an interdisciplinary research perspective. In addition to working with synthetic membrane systems, I have also been exposed to techniques used in molecular biology, biochemistry, and cell biology. This project also has fostered collaboration, providing members of my lab an opportunity to learn about synthetic membrane systems. The assays developed through this project are to be adopted for other members of my lab to study [related regulation pathways.]"
