Achievement

This past summer the students worked to develop skills in understanding diversity issues in academia and learned techniques to diffuse potential conflicts that may result through these differences. Diana Kardia, of the Kardia Group, led our first ever workshop on Diversity in Academia. Diana facilitated a discussion on diversity of backgrounds and thought and the possible conflicts that can arise and led participants through a framework of conflict resolution. This workshop was well received by the students who felt that these skills would be highly useful in their academic careers. The workshop was so well received that we hope to include the workshop in future IGERT efforts.
