Achievement

The Sensor Testbed, a key course in our IGERT certificate, continues to be a valuable learning and research experience for the IGERT students. This year the students are developing a real-time sensor network to monitor machine coolant for a General Electric manufacturing plant. The course has been one of our most effective training tools as it address multiple programmatic objectives. The project requires the students to work closely as a team, develop a real system for a real client, test principles they have learned in their previous class, and contribute new research insights to the problem.
