Achievement

The grant writing course referred to in the Educational Achievements section not only teaches the students the process of writing a grant A number of students have then used the grant to obtain external funding to support their work or provide stipends after they roll off IGERT funding. This year Karen Dowell received a Pre-Doctoral Fellowship in informatics from the PhRMA Foundation. Her success is unique in that they normally do not give fellowships to student who are not at a medical school. Karen also participated in the on-line poster session this May.
