Trainee research take top place
Out of 8 science categories and 300 posters at the 2011 Northeastern University Research and Scholarship Expo, IGERT trainee's research took top place in three categories. In the category of Engineering and Technology IGERT trainee, Brian Plouffe won with his poster titled, "Isolation of Rare-Cell Populations via a Rationally Designed Microfluidic Magnetophoresis Device". In the category of Physical and Life Sciences, IGERT trainees Matt Dubach and Mary Balaconis won with their poster titled, "Functional Nanoemulsion for Fluorescently Measuring Sodium Activity in Cells".
