Annual COB computational biology conference day

The COB Program ran its second annual COB day, which provoked considerable enthusiasm and discussion from our COB students, and exposed them to a wide range of topics within developing areas of computational biology. The speakers included: Marcelo Magnasco, (Rockefeller) who spoke on "Dynamical and Statistical Criticality in a Model of Neural Tissue"; Edo Kussell (NYU Biology), who spoke on "Sensing and Selection in Bacterial Populations"; Chris Wiggins, Ph.D. (Columbia, Applied Math), who spoke on "Inferring and Encoding Modules in Biological Networks"; and Stevan R. Hubbard, Ph.D. (NYU, Sackler), who spoke on "Structural Basis for Protein Recruitment to Activated Receptor Tyrosine Kinases". Many of the COB students also presented posters of their own work, and fielded questions from the conference speakers and other participants.
