Trainee sits on university board
The last year of IGERT support for EIGER trainee Rebecca French was the 2009-2010 academic year. During that year, in part due to her leading-edge involvement in EIGER, she was selected to serve on the Virginia Tech Board of Visitors, the governing body of the university, as the sole graduate student representative. Due to that experience, and her continued excellence in research, along with her two EIGER international internships to India and Spain, she was selected to receive one of two annual Congressional Science Fellowships from the American Geophysical Union, the largest geo-society in the world. After Ms. French finishes her PhD this August, she will serve on Capitol Hill with a member of congress and work on science policy issues.
