Trainee wins award for best poster
EIGER trainee Andrea Tiwari won a first place prize for best poster at the Virginia Tech Graduate Student Association Research Symposium. Entitled "Oxidation of C60 Aerosol by Ozone", the poster describes the results of laboratory experiments investigating the chemical transformation of aerosolized fullerenes. Understanding the rates and products of such transformations is important because they may alter the nanomaterial's bioavailability, toxicity, and fate and transport in the environment. The research hinges on interdisciplinary collaboration between personnel in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and the Department of Chemistry.
