Trainee meets with Nobel Laureates
Scott Boyken (IGERT trainee, Bioinformatics and Computational Biology, ISU) has been recognized for his outstanding research achievements, receiving two awards this year. Scott was selected participate in the 2011 Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings in Lindau, Germany, this summer. Scott is among 550 young researchers world-wide who were chosen to meet and exchange ideas with ~20 Nobel Laureates in Physiology and Medicine. In addition, Scott received the James Cornette Research Fellowship from ISU's BCB program this year. Scott is co-author on a high-profile publication in the prestigious journal Nature, this year (Long et al., 2010 Nature 467:484), along with an interdisciplinary team that includes another IGERT trainee, Mike Zimmerman (BCB) and two ISU IGERT faculty, R. Jernigan (Biophysics) and E. Yu (Chemistry) who is senior author on the study. Scott is currently preparing two manuscripts describing his recent work with Amy Andreotti, IGERT faculty, Biochemistry, ISU).
