Study of polar pathway for skin absorption

Trainee Terri La Count works under Dr. Gerald Kasting in the College of Pharmacy. Her IGERT project entails the study of the polar pathway for skin absorption. This work incorporates charge-charge interactions in a cylindrical pore model. Recently, she submitted a manuscript based on her research as an IGERT trainee. The paper was submitted last month to the Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences and was entitled “Mobility of nickel and chromium ions in human stratum corneum: characterization of the skin’s polar pathway by electrical conductance measurements”. She will also present a poster on this subject at the Barrier Function Gordon Research Conference in August, 2011.
