Achievement

Trainee Willa Friedman has begun analysis on the determinants of participation in the Rwanda Genocide of the 1990s. Willa spent much time collecting data from truth tribunals on village level participation of local area member of the Hutu tribe in homicidal violence against members of the Tutsi tribe. Willa is currently assessing whether pre-Genocide village conditions, such as the degree of between-group economic inequality, influence the degree of participation by Hutus. This project is in its initial stages, but is one of the most interesting projects that one of our fellows has worked on.
