Trainee Achievements
Trainee receive prestigious awards
As with past years our IGERT trainees continue to receive prestigious awards linked directly to their IGERT research. During the past year nine trainees (Brandon Boor, Ellison Carter, Jordan Clark, Matt Earnest, Elliott Gall, Shahana Khurshid, James Lo, Sonny Rosenthal, and Sarah Taylor-Lang) received a collective 13 external and 2 internal (University of Texas) awards. External awards were received from the American Society of Heating Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), Air & Waste Management Association, NSF, USEPA, NIOSH, and Phi Kappa Phi. Since the inception of our IGERT program our trainees and affiliates have received 15 ASHRAE Grant-in-Aid (GIA) awards, an unprecedented number for any university. Each GIA provides students with $10,000 to be used for travel, supplies, and publication costs. One trainee (Jordan Clark) and two affiliates (Shichao Liu and Steve Bourne) received GIA in the past year.
