Climate Leadership Challenge proposal
Trainees McCord, and Stefanos, working with Associate Jefferey Starke, built upon their collaborative capstone project on biogas in Wisconsin to develop a proposal that was submitted in April to the Climate Leadership Challenge (http://www.sage.wisc.edu/clc/index.html). CLC is an entrepreneurial competition that offers prizes to support innovative projects that have the potential to improve human’s management of the climate. The team’s project (BioGRASP: Biogas Growth: Regional and Sustainable Partnerships), seeks to establish an innovative pilot program for renewable energy adoption in western Uganda and beyond by empowering local entrepreneurs to create a network of biogas systems and expertise in the region. Although they did not win the Grand Prize, the project was among 4 first-round winners of the innovation competition, and received a $2,000 award.
