Conservation Conflict Resolution training
As part of skills building activities for our trainees, our program sponsored three trainees to attend the “Conservation Conflict Resolution” training offered by the Smithsonian-Mason Global Conservation Studies Programs at the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute in Front Royal, VA, from January 10-21, 2011. The course focused on approaches to cultivating sustainable conservation solutions, including determining root causes of complex conflict dynamics, designing decision-making processes to address conflict, and building mutual respect and trust among stakeholders. The trainees then led four sessions of our IGERT seminar to share what they learned with the bigger IGERT group in February.
