Conducting scientific resarch in China
Six of our trainees, Jamon Van Den Hoek, Jill Baumgartner, Elena Doucet-Beer, Timothy Hildebrandt, Brian Robinson, and John Zinda, have drafted a paper titled, “Identifying the Pitfalls and Realizing the Promise of Conducting Research in China.” They have submitted to a handful of journals over the past year and continue to submit it. The main thesis of the article is that conducting scientific research in China can be challenging for foreign scholars, but an awareness of Chinese research culture and how to navigate Chinese academic and institutional systems will improve prospects for successful research and beneficial collaboration.
