New Scientific Computing courses
We have implemented a new series of courses, called "Scientific Computing". Our intent is to have a family or suite of these courses, taught out of each of the 6 science departments. In all cases the course will introduce MatLab to the students and then use it to analyze real data and do relevant statistics. The first of these was taught by Tim Hickey (Computer Science) this spring to 35 students , and the second of these will be taught by Steve VanHooser (Biology/Neuroscience). These courses are taken by students from all majors/disciplines, and represent a university acknowledgment of the skills needed by all science students.
