Understanding photovoltaic performance
Led by two IGERT faculty members (Brian Korgel and David Vanden Bout), the interdisciplinary team, including two IGERT trainees (Micah Glaz and Brian Goodfellow) and other UT students, have carried out research work using scanning photocurrent and fluorescence microscopy to map out the spatial Heterogeneity in Cu(In1-xGax)Se2 nanocrystal-based photovoltaics. They have investigated spatial variations in electronic and optical properties across an as-fabricated, functional Cu(In1-xGax)Se2 (CIGS) nanocrystal-based photovoltaic device. Through correlation of local morphological features with spatial variations in device properties, they have obtained greater understanding of photovoltaic performance. Their research result was published in Small 6 (24) 2832-2836, (2010).
